ive been seeing a new wave of transmedicalists lately I think we gotta start being vocal again about how nasty they are. you don't need to take hormones or have surgery to be a trans person. changing your name and pronouns is gender affirming care. wearing new clothes and hair and makeup is part of transitioning too. you dont need to pass to be trans, you don't need to be male or female.
nonbinary, agender, genderfluid, genderqueer people are trans too if that's a label they want to use for themselves. and anyone who says otherwise is a piece of shit. it's not "anti-transitioning" to say so, it's anti-telling other people what to do with their bodies. it's pro-minding your own fucking business and letting people do what they want with their gender and treating them with compassion and enthusiasm
I genuinely believe that the transmedicalist mindset comes from a deep place of insecurity and internalized transphobia, these people hate being trans so much that they get so irritated seeing other people who choose to not comply with the strict gender binary. they think they're experts because they're trans themselves but they don't understand that they have no authority to tell anyone else what they need to do with their bodies. they want to be cis so bad they just parrot transphobic talking points and bully anyone who doesn't fit in. and it's sad because they're trying to cope with the transphobia they face but it's in such a harmful and maladaptive way that just harms other trans people.
I would also like to add that you don't have to experience dysphoria to be trans. I've seen a lot of nasty discourse around that. As someone who experiences dysphoria myself, it was a hard concept for me to grasp at first. But we have no place at ALL to judge or label the experience of anyone other than ourselves. Don't identify with the gender you're assigned at birth? You're trans. It really IS that simple. Stop gatekeeping and making things harder for people.
